Getting Twitter Followers to Click on your Links
September 28, 2011
Getting people to click on the links you’re Tweeting is crucial if they’re ever going to buy from you, hear from you or stay with you.
Here are some ways to maximize the chances of people clicking on your link
1. Spamming is a bug no-no. Try to diversify your links so that it create value for the user. Remember that this is a 2 way road – create value for your followers and your followers with give you value. Link to your site sparingly – as a rough guide, every week there should be a sales-based Tweet. Any more than that and you’re a spammer.
2. Never link to anything without a Title. Followers will not click links they don’t know anything about. Include a title or brief description to entice the audience
3. Discussions. Twitter is amazing for it’s ability to promote live discussions. Instead of just linking and running, try to start a discussion around the link. Include your opinion and stir up some drama and some passion around it. Interact and people will click.
4. Trending Topics. Be relevant in what you tweet. Try using Twist – it allows you to see the latest trends on Twitter. Stay in alignment with the latest buzz and you can use your links at the just the right time to maximise your profits.
5. Timing is Everything. There’s no point in tweeting when your followers are sleeping or when your Tweets are getting lost in the Peak hour scuffle. Twitter Feed is amazing for this because you can keep an eye on the gaps in conversation and jump on in at the right time. Business hours are always the best but be sure to take advantage when you can.
6. Help Others and you shall be helped. Retweet people’s posts and link to their content. People like it when you do nice things for them and in turn, they feel obliged to do nice things back.
